About the Book

Title:The Survival Index
Author:Alp Egan
Genre:Near-Future Dystopian Mystery
Release:14 August 2026

Nine billion people walked into the water.
One equation decided who survived.

A dystopian mystery about memory, grief, and the danger of letting algorithms decide whose lives matter.

About the Author

Alp Egan spent years in medicine and pharmaceutical research, around the quiet moments when a system decides who gets help — and noticed how rarely anyone writes down why. He carried that noticing home with him for a long time before he understood it was a story. It became The Survival Index, Book One of The Measured World — an expanding series about the people systems forget to name, the question at the heart of everything he writes, and one he's still finding new ways to ask. The second book, The Unmeasured, arrives in November 2026.

He lives in Cork, Ireland, with his family, within walking distance of the river that flows through his first novel. He reads more speculative fiction than his shelves can hold, follows advances in AI and medicine with equal parts fascination and unease, and remains convinced that the most important questions are the ones nobody thinks to ask until it's too late.

Short Bio
